Reporting and Data Availability
TAS/13 makes the data easily available. It provides a wide range of reports that help the trustee manage the caseload, meet accounting requirements and provide information about cases to parties of interest. An important feature of TAS/13 is how easy it is for users to generate their own reports. It is not possible to anticipate all information needs with standard reports and it is not possible to meet these needs in a timely way by depending on a service outside the Trustee's office. TAS/13 users have the ability to generate their own reports using a PROGRESS reporting tool or by writing a report in the PROGRESS script language. The PROGRESS reporting tool is an easy to learn "point and click" program that walks the users through setting up their own reports. When a request is made to list the business cases, or calculate the average number of days from the date filed to the first disbursement, the Trustee can respond in a timely way.
A very important feature of TAS/13 is its ability to publish data on the World Wide Web. In the middle of the night, without attention from the office staff, data is forwarded through a local Internet provider to www.ramapo.com where it is organized and made available on the web. Parties register and are given a login and password. The data is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
The majority of users are attorneys for the debtors. Other users include creditors such as Ford Motor Credit. This service allows attorneys to be more prepared for the 341 meetings as well as the confirmation hearings. The availability of data allows them to anticipate what demands will be made on them and as a result, simplifies and speeds up the meetings and hearings. It also gives them the ability to review the cases and bring any issues to the Trustee's attention in a timely way.
